Position Overview

The Sr FP&A Manager, Transformation & Technology and will be a key member of the Pure Storage finance team, driving global reporting/planning/forecasting, automating operational processes, and improving systems/tools that scale for Pure’s growth as well as producing analysis & insights for executive reporting, finance metrics, and Board of Director presentations.

 

This is a highly visible people-manager role that will drive optimization of global investments and spending, help lead process improvement within FP&A and cross-functionally with other teams including HR and Business Operations, and serve as the finance business partner to C-level execs and other senior leaders including Pure’s CIO and CISO.  This role will also oversee Pure’s strategic investments in transformational initiatives & projects, and own reporting of key operating expense metrics on a weekly, monthly and quarterly cadence to executive staff.

Responsibilities

  • Partner as the strategic “CFO” to Pure’s Chief Digital Transformation Officer, CIO, CISO, and their respective organizations
  • Serve on the cross-functional leadership team that oversees Pure’s company-wide strategic investments in transformation projects, providing strategic and analytic guidance to CEO, CFO, and other senior leaders
  • Manage planning, reporting, forecasting, and analysis for headcount and operating expenses across multiple functions, corporate line items, and shared allocated costs
  • Develop best practice financial and business processes that can be shared and cascaded to other FP&A controllers
  • Deliver business partner financial packages that can be leveraged by Corporate FP&A for consolidations as well as other business partner FP&A leads to communicate financial results in a standard format to their business partners on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Drive business insight and business excellence across all operating and capital expense line items and KPIs, geographies, and business units
  • Pull together weekly/monthly/quarterly finance metrics published to executive staff, including metrics for hiring, retention, investment allocation, expense run rate, and operating leverage
  • Partner closely with HR, accounting, IT and other functions to drive consistency and alignment in business requirements and definitions, reporting hierarchies, integrated systems, and scalable processes (e.g. procure to pay) to enhance and transform reporting and business intelligence
  • Manage a team and develop them into high-impact contributors
  • Participate in the continued development of planning, budgeting, forecasting, and modeling tools and processes to improve automation and efficiency
  • Perform ad hoc analysis covering, but not limited to: headcount growth, personnel investments including cost per head trending, subscription spending, facilities, depreciation, and other operational metrics.

Qualifications

  • BA degree in Finance, Accounting, or equivalent; MBA a plus.
  • 7+ years of progressively complex roles in a financial function with financial planning and analysis experience/understanding, particularly in a business-facing FP&A role.
  • 2+ years experience managing a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and “story-telling” skills, particularly to executive management.
  • Demonstrated track record and success in working with large amounts of data, synthesizing patterns and trends into compelling analysis for executive decision-making
  • Can define, articulate, and implement FP&A best practices in ambiguous environments 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, work well under pressure and adapt quickly to change.
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, project management, and financial modeling abilities.
  • Self-motivated curiosity, sense of urgency, ability to pivot seamlessly between big picture and fine level granularity, and relentless focus on outcomes not activity
  • Ability to partner cross-functionally, through strong relationship building, influencing, negotiating and communication skills, with all levels of management.
  • Advanced Excel modeling and PowerPoint skills.
  • Experience with NetSuite and Anaplan software a plus.

You will be based in Santa Clara, CA. As this is an office-centric role, you are expected to be present in the office for 3 days a week. As outlined in Pure's Hybrid Work Policy, there will be variations over periods of time, depending on business need.

Pay Range

USD $172,000.00 - USD $259,000.00 /Yr.

Salary ranges are determined based on role, level and location. For positions open to candidates in multiple geographical locations, the base salary range is reflective of the labor market across the applicable locations. This role may be eligible for incentive pay and/or equity.
